Romios Gold is pleased to report on the early positive results from its $ 5.0 million exploration program underway at its various properties located in the Galore Creek area of northwestern British Columbia. The program consists principally of diamond drilling at the North West Zone and on the Trek property and in addition, includes ground geophysical surveys, geological mapping, prospecting, soil and rock geochemical surveys and metallurgical test work. Diamond drilling at Newmont Lake and Trek properties has identified extensive mineralization characteristic of a number of known copper- gold porphyry deposits and has encountered large, mineral-rich breccia zones, believed to be related genetically to the system of mineralized porphyry intrusives on Romios' various properties. The field work and geophysical surveys have delineated anomalous zones that are being targeted for additional work.
Diamond Drilling
A total of 13 diamond drill holes, consisting of 10 exploration holes and 3 metallurgical holes, have been completed at the Newmont Lake and Trek properties. Drilling at Newmont Lake is directed at expanding the known resource of the North West Zone which, based on earlier drilling, was calculated to contain a NI 43-101 inferred resource of 1,406,000 tonnes at a grade of 4.43 gpt Au, 0.22% Cu and 6.4 gpt Ag or a gold equivalent grade (AuEq) of 5.16 gpt that was announced in a press release dated March 26, 2007. This equates to in-situ contained metal of 200,000 ounces of gold, 6,790,000 pounds of copper and 291,000 ounces of silver. These resources are reported at a base case gold equivalent cut-off grade of 2 gpt. Mineral Resources are not Mineral Reserves as Mineral Resources have not demonstrated economic viability. The drilling cut wide zones of disseminated mineralization as well as highly silificied breccia zones typical of the higher grade gold mineralization encountered in earlier drilling within the North West Zone. Final assay results from the drilling program are pending.
Diamond drilling on the Trek Property is targeting copper-gold porphyry style mineralization and higher grade copper-gold mineralization contained within breccia zones. A breccia zone exposed in a large cliff face located adjacent to the drill site exhibits strong copper oxide staining. The initial hole (TR-08-01) at Trek intersected 30.5 metres (from 149.0 metres to 179.5 metres) of breccia zone mineralization, and the second hole (TR-08-02) intersected 121.9 metres (from 139.9 metres to 261.8 metres) of disseminated, porphyry-style mineralization . . The third hole (TR-08-03) was stopped at 209.0 metres due to poor ground conditions. The hole intersected 94.0 metres (from 115.0 metres to 209.0 metres) of disseminated porphyry mineralization and remained in mineralization at the bottom of the hole. Assay results are pending and drilling continues on the fourth hole (TR-08-04).
Airborne and Ground Geophysical Surveys
A helicopter DIGEM/EM-Magnetic survey was competed by Fugro Airborne Surveys Corp over Romios' recently acquired claims adjacent to the Newmont Lake property. The survey comprised approximately 600 line kilometres of data. The preliminary field data identified both magnetic anomalies and conductors that correspond with surface showings of chalcopyrite- pyrite mineralization and zones of strong potassic alteration Additional field work and ground geophysics are planned.
Ground geophysical surveys consisting of Magnetic, IP Time Domain EM and down-the-hole EM are underway at the Newmont Lake and Trek properties. The geophysical surveys at Newmont Lake extend coverage to the north and south of the North West Zone as well as provide detailed surveys for a newly identified TS4 airborne geophysical anomaly. Geophysical surveys at the Trek property are aimed at identifying anomalies associated with the porphyry and breccia mineralization as well as defining significant structural features on the property.
